As much as it turns my stomach, it reminds me that NOTHING happens in life without God's knowledge and remedy.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what the relationship was like between man and concubine, but I wonder if she was unfaithful to him because he was the kind of guy that could hear her screams and that horrific violence right outside the door, sleep through it and "step(ped) out to continue on his way" in the morning?
It also speaks of the strong consequences that followed when the Benjamites protected the guilty rather than judging sin in their midst.
It's curious to me that God instructed the Israelites to fight the Benjamites two battles knowing they would lose dramatically before winning the third time. Why spend all those lives?
