ReplyDeleteWow. This is a tough set of passages to go through. You know it's tough when you get the most comfort from the short passage in Proverbs. Even the Psalms seems inordinately aggressive and violent. The one thing that comes into my mind about all this is that we really don't understand fully the wildness and terribleness of our God. God has somehow been reduced to this all loving, wink at our sins, old geezer when in fact the scriptures paint a vividly different picture of God.
